Package Description: Supply Cover Staff – from April 2026
Loretto Junior School is looking for Support Workers able to join the team as Supply Cover from April 2026. This is to cover for occasional days where extra staffing is needed, to cover for staff who are absent at short notice due to illness and for more extended periods of planned annual leave. This would be a flexible ongoing agreement. You will mainly be working as part of the Pre-School and Early Years Team.

Main purpose of the role
- To support the Lead Classroom Teacher in the Pre-School during term time.
- To provide a caring, secure environment, through individual attention and group activities.
- To implement the Curriculum for Excellence under the guidance of the Lead Classroom Teachers within the Pre-School.
- To support Loretto’s Pre-School Twilight Sessions (ages 3-5), After School Club (ages 5-8) and Holiday Club (ages 3-12).
- To supervise and educate the children through play, covering all areas of the children’s development.
- To develop and maintain good relationships and communication with parents / carers to facilitate day-to-day caring needs of the children.
This is supply work with flexible hours and days according to requirement. Work may be as a classroom assistant or a support worker. Pay is £13.29 per hour for Support Worker cover.
Experience and Skills
Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the SSSC.
You will also have:
- A keen interest in child development
- An understanding of the needs of parents with young children and an ability to relate to them
- An understanding of the statutory requirements of legislation concerning Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Additional Support Needs and Child Protection;
- The ability to develop good personal relationships within the team and effective relationships with parents and the community.
- Excellent IT skills.
