About Us
Lathallan is an extraordinary co-educational nursery, junior and senior school for youngsters between the ages of 6months to 18 years. Our 19th century school castle, boarding house and facilities are located within 60 acres of leafy grounds, on the edge of the stunning North Sea coastline. This setting provides unrivaled outdoor learning opportunities and a specious environment for pupils to explore. Lathallan is a non-selective school which means we are fortunate to work with some truly remarkable young people. Our class size average is 12, allowing our teaching team to really get to know each individual, identify their strengths and empower them to achieve beyond their expectations. The great outdoors provides an unbeatable learning canvas to explore, develop and grow! All of our pupils learn in the fresh air, immersed in nature, helping them to connect with others, themselves and the environment. By committing to teaching both inside and outside the classroom, our pupils understand that learning occurs everywhere, at all times. The farm plays a pivotal role in Lathallan s sustainability drive. Pupils learn valuable farm-to-fork lessons through rearing pigs, looking after the chickens, harvesting potatoes and growing a wide range of fruit and vegetables that are used for freshly-cooked school meals. Four alpacas are the latest curious creatures to join the growing number of animals living at the school. Lathallan pupils have named them Fluffy, Macapaca, Popcorn and Marmalade, and are actively involved in all aspects of their care from feeding and exercising the animals to replenishing water and maintaining their living spaces. Headmaster of Lathallan School, Richard Toley, says: At Lathallan, we are continuously evolving to ensure our school experience brings out the best in every pupil. As a school we strive to educate our pupils to appreciate and respect the environment, to leave people and places better than they find them. We welcome families for a private tour year-round.
